Oil and gas engineering firm McDermott International (NYSE: MDR) has landed a turnkey contract valued at approximately US$230mn from Mexico's national oil company Pemex for the PB-Litoral-A production platform at the Tsimin-Xux fields in the coastal Tabasco region, the former said in a press release.
The contract includes engineering, procurement, fabrication, transportation, installation and commissioning of an 8,300t platform. McDermott will also provide training to Pemex personnel for operation and maintenance of the facility.
"This project reaffirms our Altamira, Mexico fabrication facility as a key player for both domestic and international offshore construction projects," said Steven W Roll, VP and general manager of the company's Atlantic region.
"Our investments in Altamira are beginning to show dividends as we continue to grow the facility and supporting resources in this strategic location."
Engineering is expected to begin immediately and the project should be completed by 2Q15. McDermott noted the contract would be included in its 4Q12 backlog.
