A Young Girl and Her Family Find Hope Thanks to The Fellowship ...

Yael is a good-natured girl in the third grade at a religious school for special education. She suffers from severe Attention Deficit Disorder, which was neglected for years by her parents. Despite this challenge, Yael is very social and popular among her peers. One of her favorite activities is playing the drum at the Fellowship-sponsored Metsuba After-School Activity Center.

Yael was first brought to Metsuba by her father, who had recently been released from prison. Following his release, he decided to become more involved in the upbringing of his children, both because he missed them and because their mother had become lax in caring for them. Yael?s father had gone through drug rehabilitation in jail and continued therapy at a rehabilitation center in the community, trying hard not to fall into his old ways.

Sadly, Yael?s father recently was arrested again for drugs. Since then, Yael has become very quiet and withdrawn. The therapeutic team at Metsuba, with whom she has built a strong and trusting relationship, is working hard to help Yael through these hard times.

Yael?s mother has returned to being her primary caregiver and receives counseling and support from the therapeutic team at Metsuba. Yael, who eats her main hot meal there daily, is also given leftovers to take home to her family to help ease the pressure on her mother.

Thanks to Metsuba, and friends of The Fellowship who give generously to fund it, this struggling family has some measure of structure and support. Most importantly, they know they are not walking this tough road alone ? and that, to them, means everything in the world.
