Zynga Has Spent Over $75,000 Lobbying For Online Gambling

Zynga, the gaming company responsible for distributing Words with Friends, Draw Something, and the Facebook invitation/notification overlord FarmVille has been putting a considerable amount of effort into lobbying for online gambling.?

According to the Wall Street Journal the lobbying efforts are mostly in Washington, D.C. and California, but Zynga isn't even planning to include the United States in the "initial market" for the gaming.?

The bill they are pushing for is called "the Internet Gambling Consumer Protection and Public-Private Partnership Act of 2012" and the lobbying has already cost Zynga $75,000 for federal lobbying, and an undisclosed, but somewhere less than $75,000 on the state level in California.?

CEO Mark Pincus is aiming to launch their first gambling service sometime in the first six months of 2013.?[WSJ via Gizmodo]
