JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. ? Following four years of service as communications director for Gov. Jay Nixon, Sam Murphey will leave the office in the coming weeks for a job in the private sector.
Sources told PoliticMo Monday that Murphey, a University of Missouri journalism school graduate, will take a new job working for Monsanto, the St. Louis based agricultural biotechnology company.
Murphey is set to be replaced in the office by Channing Ansley, who worked on Nixon?s campaign as research and communications director. Longtime Nixon communications aide Scott Holste is expected to stay on for the time being.
The governor?s office was set to announce Murphey?s exit later this month as time moves closer to Nixon?s second?inauguration.
