Lincoln Road to London: The Proud Parents behind Local Olympian

Michael and Vicki Furrer will tell you they aren't "TV people," the television is never on for hours at a time inside their Mead home.? However, Friday night they made an exception. ? After all, their youngest daughter, 21-year-old Amanda Furrer was front and center in the opening ceremonies for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London

"She'll do 100 percent for the United States, we're proud of that," said Michael Furrer, while proudly wearing his Team USA t-shirt Friday night

Amanda is on the USA Shooting Team.? She'll be competing in the Olympic three position event with her .22 competition rifle.

She first picked up a rifle at the age of 11 and within six month Furrer said he knew his daughter had what it would take to make it to the top.

"She has absolute enthusiasm and willpower, absolutely strong willpower," said Michael Furrer

"So if you have willpower and can control your emotions and physically train you can be a champion," he said

By the age of 15, Amanda was traveling the world setting records at just about every competition.? An entire hallway in their home is dedicated to beautiful medals, plaques and pins- all mile markers in Amanda's amazing road to the Olympics.

Furrer coached his daughter until she reached the national level, now he only speaks up when she asks for his advice.

The Furrer's will fly to London Tuesday to watch Amanda compete on August 4th.
