Barnstaple in North Devon hosts Classic Car show | eRentalNews ...

Vintage cars have the power to inspire great affection in their owners and devotees enjoy nothing better than getting together with other aficionados and showing off their vehicles en masse. One such gathering is set to happen this Sunday when the?North Devon Sports & Classic Car Club?holds its annual show at the Pannier Market in Barnstaple (see map).

Founded in 1985, the North Devon club now boasts a membership of around 140. It holds monthly meetings throughout the year and prides itself on being ?very active and friendly?, with the annual show being the culmination of the club?s regular events ? the one day in the calendar where the most distinguished classic cars in the club?s fleet are all likely to make an appearance. It is a rare occasion when such a wealth of automotive history is on display in one location.?

Members of the public are welcome to attend the day and anyone with an interest in vintage or even ultra-modern sports cars is in for quite a treat. The North Devon club?s stable includes everything from a couple of classic 1920s Rolls Royce to?the very latest Jaguar XF, rated a ?superb saloon? by Top Gear. For those who prefer American classics, keep an eye out for the Ford Mustang. And if historical oddities are more your bag, be sure to catch the 1960s-era?Portafold, a folding caravan constructed from fiber-glass.?

Petrolheads who prefer their machines on two wheels will also have plenty to hold their interest: this year?s show is held in conjunction with the?North Devon Classic Motorcycle Club. And keeping the atmosphere decidedly vintage, live music will be performed throughout the day by a George Formby appreciation group.
